What is the MOL (Ministry of Labour)

The Ministry of Labour (MOL) is a governmental agency in Ontario, Canada responsible for overseeing and enforcing labor laws, health and safety regulations, and employment standards. The MOL’s history dates back to the late 19th century, when it was established to address concerns about unsafe working conditions in factories and mines. Over the years, the MOL has expanded its mandate to include a broad range of workplace issues, including harassment and discrimination, workplace violence, and the prevention of occupational illnesses and injuries. The agency works closely with employers, employees, and other stakeholders to promote safe and healthy work environments and to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations. Through its ongoing efforts, the MOL has helped to improve working conditions and protect workers’ rights across Ontario.
