What is the OHSA
The Ontario Health and Safety Act got initiated in 1974 with the Building Code Act and are since expanded regulations to promote health and safety in workplaces. The OHSA created procedures to prevent occupational diseases and workplace injuries.
Who’s protected by the OHSA?
Under the umbrella of the OHSA are protected almost every worker, supervisor, and employer working in Ontario. It also includes suppliers, constructors and workplace owners.
Who enforces the OHSA regulations?
Inspectors from the Ministry of Labour enforce the OHSA regulations to keep workers nation-wide safe and issue fees and tickets.
